Default I need help!!!

My 02 ram came with the infiniti system in it. With the stock headunit in, I began to have trouble. I would get no sound after turning the truck off then back on. After doing a little reading on here and speaking with several friends, it seems the stock amp is on the fritz. I went and spoke to a professional at an audio shop about what is going on and he gave me to options. I can either send off the amp to be repaired or I can put in a pioneer deck I have lying around and bypass the amp. The catch is if I bypass the amp, he is telling me I need to replace the at least the dash and front door speakers. Apparantly the ohm rating on the speakers will not go well with the pioneer deck. He told me the speakers are rated at 2ohm's and they need to be at 4ohm's. I am afraid that I am being screwed over here. If anybody who has a better understanding on what is going on and what I can do, it would be much appreciated. Thank ya'll very much in advance.

Radio's cant run at that low of an ohm load, and if you try it will more than likely fry somethin in the radio.

well that just isn't a good thing. Would you happen to know a good recsource to use to find the factory infinity speaker's ohm rating? Or would it just be easier to take the door off and actually look on the radio?

I believe the dash speakers and the doors are 2-ohms but wired together in series for a 4ohm final load on the Rams. Not 100% sure though

Default RE: I need help!!!

This friday, I am going to be bypassing the amp and installing the pioneer deck. rtkota5point9, that seems to make logical sense to me. Is the factory amp a 4-channel amp? If this is true I can go without replacing the speakers. I didn't want to do any of this but this stupid amp has got me stuck in the middle of it all. By the way, the store, audiotronics, priced 4 JBL speakers installed for $650. This seems a little excessive to me. This is after I told them I didn't want anything fancy. These weren't even component speakers.

Yeah excessive for sure.4 Decent speakers should run you about $200 installed for something entry level.
