On dual 4ohm subs you can wire the voice coils together positive to posititve and negative to negative and it will give you a 1ohm load. If you can get a amp that is capable of handling that load then you can run both subs off of one channel. When you bridge down your amp and use only one channel at 1 ohm, it is capable of more power than running them at 2 or 4 ohm. These amps cost alittle bit more, but the power output and quality of the amp is awesome. When shopping for an amp buy one that is a class D (Best power output to minimuim power draw) and you will be very happy with the it.
With a 500 watt RMS minimuim and 1500 watt maximuim I would run about somewhere in the middle and you will be happy. I have personally used Concept brand amps with no problem, but other brands are HiFonics, Digital Design, and even Alpine amps to name a few. I would go around to a couple audio shops and talk to them and see what they have to offer, just remember to get a good amp that will last you will have to spend probaly $400 to $500.

yeah i figured i'd get an amp sooner or later but after i get the subs and get them in and get a few spots on my paint fixed up a wee bit due to some minor incidents
but that cleared up the whole why i should get a 1 ohm load amp but it still confused me a lil' my audiology knowledge pretty muchly consists of Volume Button: UP/DOWN Bass: Up Mid: middle HI's: lil above middle

I was the same way about car stereo installation for a long time, but I was lucky enough to have a couple of friends that were into car audio that would answer alot of my questions. If you want to learn more about car audio then I would suggest buying some basic books on car audio and installation, and maybe finding some forums that have good information on them.
This place has excellent write ups for all electronics involved in audio installations.
