2005 SRT 10 Amp and Sub
I have a factory Infinity Sub and Amp out of a 2005 SRT 10. I am putting it in a 2001 Ram QC. I have the pin out and was wondering about the inputs on pins #8 and #9 they are the inputs. Are they line level or high level inputs?
I would imagine low level inputs...but factory is not my thing at all. I really think you would be better of going with aftermarket.....it would sound better and would be easier to install. Maybe r/t will give some input as it seems he deals with factory stuff more.
Thanks for the info. I hooked it up with a LOC and did not get any sound out of the Sub. Then I found a wiring diagram for the stereo system in an 2005 SRT and the wires come from the amped head unit. I took a RCA y connectorand soldered them on Pin 8 and 9 for the LOC. So I took an extra amp I had laying around and hooked it up and used it and the Sub sounds great. I had to take an old plug from a Infinity amp from a Grand Cherokee and got the ol Dremel out and made the plugs work for the other pins. I will take the RCA adapter off and make a plug for it
I have a real nice Nakamichi head unit and Nak amps I keep on the work bench to hook stuff up to figure things out. I know I ought to just put it in there but, need time to do it,it is about 20 years old and still looks as good and sounds as good as the new ones. I found out that Nakamichi makes a 6 disk front loader cd player and I am waiting on them for the dimensions to see if they will both fit in the dash. Then it will be time to do what habeba said and just change everything out, even go with the Nak speakers. My wife doesn't think so as Nak stuff does not come cheap.
Nest issue is that it will fit under my back seat like in the 2005 but I have the tray kit under the seat and it will require cutting the divider on it on the drivers side. Thinking about makin my own enclosure to just lay in the back section of the tray, that way I could run 2 sub's, but need to figure the air space thing out. Being a laid off Electrician, I love a challange. Was going to check it out last night but ran out of time, so headed for the garage with my Fluke meter and get it going. I have a Infinity Bass link with a bad amp in it so I think there is my extra sub with a passive radiator. Still trouble shooting the amp to make sure, I got power coming in and going thru the circut board, just no output. So I think I know where to look for the problem now.
Thanks to both of you for the info.
