Default Adding aftermarket sub to stock h/u

Vehicle is 2008 Durango (5.7L SLT 4WD)...stock h/u (not sure which model, but it has the 6 disc changer, with DVD capabilities..but it's definitely not the MyGig unit.)

So I'm wanting to build a box to house either a 10" sub or two 8" subs in place of the rear storage unit. The idea is to build a false floor and not lose any cargo space. The only problem them I'm having is that I can't tell a number of things. The main problem being I'm not sure if there is a stock amplifier, and if there is I don't have the wiring schematics to connect to a high-level input on my amp.

Where would the stock amplifier be located (there's something underneath the passenger seat - which is not powered.) I think this is it, but not sure. I've searched this site quite a bit but haven't found anything helpful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You never want to power aftermarket subwoofers with a factory amplifier. They will be grossly underpowered and will cause the speaker to distort, which will lead to the speakers inevitable failure sooner rather than later. Get a compact amplifier and place it under the dash board, under a front seat, or anywhere out of the way that has enough space to fit the amp. Pick up a Line-Output converter (you'll spend between $25-50 depending on what you get). That will provide you with low-level signal (RCA) to your amp (less distoriton and a higher signal/noise ratio than high-level inputs).

Thanks, but I think you mis-read my post. Or maybe I wasn't clear enough...either way. I know to not power a sub with the factory amp. I'm wanting to simply find the amp so that I can add either a LOC or just use my amp's high level inputs.

Where is the factory amp located...or how would I know that there is one?

Ok, I did misread it then. Check behind the glove box, under the dash, underneath the front seats, and in the rear side panels. Shouldn't be too large, maybe 6"-8" long and about the same in width.
