2005 Dakota Quad Cab XM tuner installation
Hello, I recently purchased a Pioneer DEH-P4100UB head unit and a Pioneer GEX-P920XM XM tuner. The head unit installation was easy but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to put the XM tuner and where to hook up the 12V power wire. I was thinking of installing it under the passenger seat or under the flip up backseats. The instructions say the 12V has to be hooked up to a source that is always on, not one that turns on with the ignition. Is it OK to splice it in with the 12V always on in the radio harness? I'm used to working on older cars where the fuse box is right under the dash and they have extra spaces for 12V accessories. I'm open to suggestions, thanks.

Satellite add-ons for Pioneers are a cakewalk once you know what you're doing. You can take +12v constant and chasis ground from behind the radio. Mount your tuner box wherever is convenient, I usually go behind the glove box or somewhere behind the dash board. Take your satellite antenna to the center of the roof of the truck, along the weather stripping of the front windshield. Hide your antenna wire underneath the stripping, and run the wire underneath the fender and through the boot in the door. From there, route it under the dash to where ever you've decided to put your tuner box. That's litterally all there is to it.
