What kind of unit do you have?

All harness firm and plugged? Ground tight?

I'm not a fan of the cheaper units such as Jensen, Boss, PA, Soundstream, etc... Normally motors go out in the screen, pre amps burn, or a simple dio kills everything. I personally am not aware of anything extra you are to do to make it work other than make sure all connections are firm and tight. If you blew a fuse, maybe damage was done before fuse blew. I would have radio looked at, any little problem can kill tose units easily.

Ahh, I understand ya now. You may have to tap your remote wire to a power source.
