Default 04 Ram With Infinity

I just received a new JVC KD-A805 receiver as a gift. I've scoured the audio and Gen 3 pages and some posts imply I need a Metra converter to put this receiver in and keep the original amp and speakers (7 of em) and others imply I can install with the standard dodge harness I received from Crutchfield and make it work w/out the 3 dash speakers.

Frankly I'm lost and know very little about installing a stereo. My questions;

Rather than pay $160 for the Metra converter should I just upgrade my speakers and wire the new receiver directly to them?

How can I wire the new receiver in and keep everything but the front 3 speakers working? Most of the posts I read were written with audiophiles in mind...I need instructions for a dummy!

Thank you,
Dave

The easiest way would be to wire in new speakers, but you can, if you are savvy enough, manipulate the wires enough to eliminate the amps and all the extra wires.

If you plan on adding more later down the road, then I would do option two since more than likely, you wont have enough wire left over to run to amps and what not.

Come back if you want speaker recommendations or if you need more help.

Welcome to DF and stick around for awhile.
