Just an idea, I think double din looks alot cleaner. If you put in on crutchfield that you have the navigation in your truck itll show you some nice double din h u.. then just buy the navi bezel for the truck off ebay or something and your set.. no cutting..
There are 2 different dashes for our Rams. You have the navigation bezel which has square double din hole and the regular radio which has the control ***** that stick out the sides a little bit creating one half circle on each side. You can get a single din size flip out screen with an aftermarket radio kit in the "****" set up. But if you want a double din size radio you will probably need to buy a new factory dash bezel for the navigation, also with a radio kit and a wire harness for plug and play with your factory wiring.
I persoanlly love Alpine. I think they have some of the best quality products. Check out the IVA-W505/P1 or the IVA-W203/P1. The 505 is a flush 7" touch screen and the 203 is flush 6.5" screen meaning it doesn't flip out. You can find these 2 on Ebay cheaper than a $1000. I believe the brain of the system is built in these stereos unlike most of the flip outs if not all the flip outs. What I mean is you have to hide the brain somewhere which is about the size of the actually stereo itself. That means you have to run a couple wires from the head unit to the brain of the system. Here is the alpine link for the Nav stereos I was talking about:

Also if you buy one of these flush mounts you will probably need this factory dash bezel which usually runs about $100 give or take:

I hope this helps!
