Question about head unit in infinity system
Alright I have a 2002 Dodge ram quad cab with the 7 speaker (i think) Infinity system. I have a Sony MP3 head unit I wanted to install in place of the stock head unit. Does any one know if this is possible because the wiring harness I found for the head unit is only for 4 speakers. Is there anything I can do to install this head unit?

RE: Question about head unit in infinity system
That turned out to be the problem! Works fine now.... last question is why do I have lots of static through the AM/FM channels. I bought the antenna adapter I need but it has lots of static you can barely hear the radio. The cds play fine. Am I not doing something right ? the connection is tight.

with the adapter, was just plug and go, or did you have to crimp it on to the antenna cable?
2 things I can think of. Not center pin is not reaching into the adapter. The connection may be tight, but the pin is not touching into the socket.
Or if you had to crimp yourself, make sure that the outer shield of the cable is not touching the center wire

RE: Question about head unit in infinity system
Just thought of a way to find out. Have the stereo on a station you know you should get. take a wire and touch the center pin of the antenna cable and the socket of the stereo and do that at any connection and see if it will come ine, then yuo know it isn't making a solid connection
