HELP: installed a kenwood head unit now there is no sound..

Default HELP: installed a kenwood head unit now there is no sound..

hey all i installed a head unit into my 2001 dodge ram.. its all wired up correctly the head unit turns on and plays the radio or cd's but no sounds emit from the speakers. any help would be appreciated!

make sure mute is not selected on the head unit.

mute is not selected. i hooked up a second head unit i had just to make sure there wasnt something wrong with mine..both after being hooked up both turn on play cd/s and everything but there is no sound. stock radio works fine but i want more options as far as tuning the speakers go.

I know in the 2004 and newer trucks there is a bypass that needs to be done in order for aftermarket radios to work. I think it is called the canbus bypass. Was there anything like this in the 2nd gen's? I would pop over to the 2nd gen world and ask.

If not, then there has to be a wiring problem somewhere. If the stock radio works and not the 2 aftermarket radios, maybe you got a bad harness. I am assuming you are using a harness/adapter for the aftermarket radios.

ive also bought 2 harness adapters. 1 from wally world and 1 from advance auto parts...so maybe there is a bypass...

got it figured out! i guess some 1994-2001 rams come with an infinity sounds system from the factory and you have to power up the factory installed amp to get power to the speakers.
