Default deck install not working need help!

so im installing my jvc deck from my old jeep into my 07 ram.. i bought the antenna adaptor and the wiring harness adaptor.. i'm pretty sure i got all the wires right but the deck wont stay on.. if you hit the power button on the deck it will come on for like 15 seconds but nothing on it works and then it just shuts off... there is two factory plugs.. one small square one and a longer one that the adaptor plugs into but there's nothing for the square one is that ok?

any ideas?

thanks connor.

Yeah the small square plug is not used. Try probing the 12v wire and accessory wire with a test light on the back of the deck to see if you get constant power when its supposed to be on. if you still get a hot wire on both wires then its inside the JVC or maybe a bad ground.. or you can take the whole unit back out and hook the 12v and acc wires and ground to your truck battery to see if it stays on then.

Disconnect the speakers and see if it stays on. It may be going into protection mode. While the speakers are disconnected, use a meter to read the load each one is presenting to the amp. It should be four ohms (maybe two these days).

IIRC I have a wire going from the HU to the cig lighter..... for the constant power Im guessing. I didnt initially install it but had to take out the HU for repair. Might be the problem? Good luck!

Yeah I would certainly be connecting just the red+yellow to 12v and the black to ground and seeing if it stays on or cuts out
