Default Speaker upgrade q

So I have the Infinity speakers in my Ram but the sound output is really what I would consider, weak. Well, the treble is fine, but the bass output is poor. The factory headunit has been changed to a pioneer (not sure of model, but only about 2yrs old..got sat and bt so its kinda new) but I cannot get the sound where I would like it despite the settings I put in. I never had the stock hu in the truck so Im not sure what it supposed to sound like, but was thinking I could replace the speakers.
Most I talk to say if I do that, I would need an amp and subwoofers but I would really rather not go that far into it. Just stock replacements that have really good all around sound. Any suggestions which to look at?
Thanks

I think the rear speakers might be blown or worn or something. I just want to replace them with something good.

I am unsure as to what Chrysler did with the 02 Rams in terms of how they ran the infinity system. I would suspect that they did the same as they did on the 2nd gens in that each speaker has its own amp. Those amps were extremely finicky especially after some age.

It's probable that your problem lies in those amps and that you could wire around them. If I had the cash, I would just go ahead and upgrade the speakers since you'll already be in the door that deep. The best thing that I can tell you to do is to just go ahead and run new wire. This does two things. 1. It will get around the factory wiring, which is OK, but I have problems reusing wire gauged that small. Especially on a 8-9 year old truck. The second thing it will do is remove a lot of the hair pulling hassle that you'll have trying to figure out the wire diagram on those factory amps.

On the fronts, I would attempt to lose those amps as well.

Make sure to get your model number on the headunit as you'll need it to look up the RMS output that it has. From there you can proceed to shopping for speakers. Make sure that the speaker you pick falls into the RMS Watt rating that the deck has. That is, unless you want to add an amp. That will leave you pretty much open to whatever you want to do.

If you were doing all new speakers and a decent amp, I would put your total cost around $300-$500 depending on brands and what not.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Thanks for the reply!

Here is the head unit I have:

I was thinking of these speakers. Think they would work well? Looking at the RMS output of the deck, everything pretty much falls in line with it, but I am sure some are still better than others...

hmm or the alpine S, which I cant seem to find right now.

I would like to gain some knowledge on this kinda thing and not looking for someone to solve all my problems, so any educational help is appriciated! Take the one like for example, based off the specs, what are the things I need to compare say between the HU and the speakers?

Thanks again!

Those two choices will line out just right. I know of a few people running a headunit similiar to that with those polks and they love them.

The main thing you need to look at when comparing head unit specifications to speaker specifications is the RMS watt range. RMS Watt reading is basically what the speaker needs in terms of Watts constantly. You can hook up speakers to a deck and not match the RMS, but you'll end up with a speaker that sounds," Meh, ok" at low volumes and "OMG that sounds like hell" at higher volumes. If that makes sense.

The other thing to look at is the Frequency output of the speakers. It's not a big thing to deal with, especially on a basic build like yours. That reading usually comes in on high end builds where you're pushing a little over 3000Watts.

Pioneer Head units are my favorite decks to use right now out of all the other brands on the market. Polk speakers are probably my second best choice.

This is all in my opinion.

First off, I have been reading alot of posts in here about audio and it seems if Laramie has a good working knowledge of car audio. I have been in it myself for 12 years. I would stay away from the alpine's unless you are going for type r's which are decent. If you want great sound quality my personal favorites and what i have installed in my 04 front and rear doors are infinity kappa perfect 6.1's. You need a 6x9 to 6.5 adapter but you can pick one up for about 10$. The sets you can find on ebay for just over 200$. Also i have had great experiences with focal and boston acoustics. For amps i recommend hifonics (not the HF line up, but the brutus for bass and the zeus for full range) and planet audio (big bang and apocalypse line ups) remember to only pay attention to rms. max is only there to attract idiots who like shiny things and big numbers. now you have an 02 quad cab with infinity system right? it is powered by a single amp located above the a/c blower motor in the passenger foot well. If you do not want to spend alot and all seven speakers sound fine (one in each door and three in the dash) i would recommend keeping the amp if it is even still hooked up. the reason i say that is that in order for the 02 and up infinity sound system to maintain the use of the stock amp you must purchase an adapter which i have not seen for less than 150$ and most places charge 210 for it. because of this most people just rewire their systemwhen they install a new h/u to bypass the amp. in either case you can pick up some kappa 6.5 components and throw them in the rear doors and be happy with the sound. ok time for me to get back to work.
