Default 2009 RAM Sub Install Q's

Hey guys, I've got a couple questions regarding sub/amp installation. My buddy wants me to give his truck a bit more low end, so I'm doing it this weekend.

Vehicle: '09 RAM 4-dr
Head Unit: OEM REN (non-navi w/ hard drive)
Current Audio: Alpine 9-speaker

Question 1: what is the best or common method of running a small power wire (6-8 awg) through the firewall?
Question 2: where is the best location to place an LOC? Should it be at the factory sub, the amp (and if so, what pins?), or elsewhere?

Can't wait to hear this 10W3 in the FoxBox. Pics will come after installation

Thanks in advance!!

1. who knows if it's like any other pickup it's got a mega huge grommet somewhere on the firewall that you can run the wire through.. should be super easy.

2. at factory sub would be best or at the sub outputs at factory amp. Whichever is easier to do both are the same.

Yah, kinda what I figured. Just wondering if there was one common spot that everyone used or not.

Figured this too, but I was a bit confused as to why the sub has 4 wires going to it vs two. Is it a dual voice coil sub or something?

either DVC subwoofer or it is amped at the actual sub probable just DVC. meter said wires determine what resistance they have and then see which ones have AC voltage when music is played and such. You're not going to find diagrams for the amp readily available at this time you're just gonna have to figure that one out. Digital multimeter for 20 bucks at sears will show you the way no probs

Yah, thought it might be DVC, but it was just weird because its unnecessary in that application. I've got a multimeter at the ready, and I'll report what I find.

I actually took it out and tested. Each of the coils is 2-ohm.

The installation was an utter pain in the ***, by the way. The LOC would not work on the sub channel. Tapped the front speakers instead. Oh, and the foxbox did anything but fit... it was literally 3" too tall. Had to take the top plastic cover off and seal the box.

But it FINALLY works!!
