Dash Speakers on 98 neon ??
Are you saying that they are too big width wise are too thick? Thats the problem with replacing 3.5" speakers, the new ones have a bigger magnet and hit plastic. I did an S-10 ages ago and used a heat gun to soften up the a/c vent to make room for the new speaker. I am no means an expert but, I don't know any anthing smaller than 3.5" in stock speakers.
If you are stuck on the particular speakers and if it is plastic that is stopping the mags, then you can find a heat gun to SLOWLY heatup the plastic to make it plyable to push in with the magents. If it is composite or metal and you have the guts you can take a rasp and grind away just enough to get them to fit. I have used a cylinder rasp in a drill with great results.
Another thing you can do is use crutchfield website to see the availible speakers that will fit. If I rememeber right the website takes in account the magnet size for fit.
