You familliar with ohms?
what are the ohms of your subs and how do you have them wired?
bridging a 2 channel amp will never hurt it, as long as you dont go under its rated ohms

If by normal you mean 1 sub to each channel, leave it like it is.
You wont gain any power by properly bridging it, plus it would be confusing.

wait a sec
You might want to check your connections
The left channel should go to one sub and the right to the other
If he bridged it, your amp is seeing a 1 ohm load, which is no good

ok you definently want to change that lol
try putting the crossover at 50%, gain at 50%, and bass boost wherever it sounds best
