Default 2002 Ram reg cab with Infinity sound system

I just bought a 2002 dodge ram regular cab. It came with an infinity sound system but the previous owner replaced the main radio with a pioneer aftermarket unit. I have a front door speaker that is sounding horrible and after doing some research on here it sounds like i may have a combination of issues. Will the pioneer unit work ok with my infinity system? What is the best speaker to replace the one in my door that not working correctly. Plus when they installed the pioneer unit they just cut the factory harness and pig tailed the new harness to fit the pioneer. Is this the best way to do it or is there a better way. Thanks for any help, I have really never payed much attention to my car stereos, they always just worked and worked pretty well. Paul

Of course the Pioneer head unit will work. So will any other manufacture.

Did they replace the door speaker with something also after market or it is still the OEM Infinity speaker? Answering that will dictate what to replace it with or maybe time to replace both doors speakers.

Cutting the OEM wiring will work. They just did it either because they wanted to same some money by not having to buy a harness or a harness was not available at the time of installation

Do you know if they are still running the OEM Infinity amp (located behind the glove box) or running the speakers directly off the head unit? If still using the OEM amp then a channel on that amp could be an issue as could be a shorted speaker wire or lead.

I dont know if they are using the factory amp. How can you tell? The door speaker is original. If I replace both of them what will i have to do? From reading this forum it sounds like they are not the normal of the self 6x9 speakers. And does the pioneer unit do the same things as the origanal unit, speaker wise that is. Thanks, Paul

The only way to know if they are using the OEM amp is to trace the wiring. But if the door speakers are original then most likely the OEM amp is still being used.

The Infinity package does 7 speakers. Thats those in the doors and the dash. The Pioneer will only do four.

It looks like there are two speakers in the back cab corners? Are there any there?

Default Will these fit and work?

Just wondering if anyone has these speakers and if they fit ok and work ok? they are from Infinity and the person that I am corresponding with at Infinity are saying that they will fit and have no modifications needed. Just wondering if someone has some background on them. Thanks, Paul
