Uconnect Bluetooth/Ipod issue figured out...
But not resolved.
So I had a Uconnect added to my 2011 Avenger.
Have Ipod plugged in and bluetooth on phone turned on.
Everything is paired and works great....until I turn off the ignition and restart car. It then does not detect my Ipod and then picks up the bluetooth audio on my phone and starts playing music from my phone.
Does the UConnect not allow both an Ipod auxillary and Phone Bluetooth at the same time? Seems to defeat the purpose if I can't listen to Ipod with the auxillary Ipod cable and be able to use my phone hands-free with the Uconnect. It seems that's what it was designed to do???
It seems to be having an argument with the two. If I turn off the Bluetooth on my phone, the Ipod works fine, but once I turn my Bluetooth on my phone it shuts Ipod down and tells me it's no longer detected.
Any resolution or ideas would help tremendously. If I would have known this I would have saved about $200 and just purchased the cheaper Ipod cable and used my phone the old school way.

So after tinkering for a bit, I guess this is what you have to do. Unless I'm missing something.
If your Ipod is plugged in permanently (ie you have it connected in the glove box or where ever and don't take it out), it is using the AUX input. so...
In order to smoothly? use your bluetooth enabled phone, you must make sure bluetooth is turned off on your phone every time you enter/start vehicle.
Once the stereo Initializes and then reads your Ipod (could take 30 seconds or so) you can turn on the Bluetooth on your phone and it will (seems to) work fine.
Until you shut the car off. Then you need to turn off the Bluetooth on your phone at some point before you get back into the car and start it, then start process over.
It works if you turn off BT on your phone anyway to save battery such is my case. However, if while you're out and about at work or whatever, if you use a BT ear mic to use your phone, you're going to have to turn it off before you get in the car.
If you don't want to listen to your Ipod, then this is a non-issue, because if the BT is on on your phone it will not read/pick up Ipod anyway and it will pick up your BT phone.
Why they didn't get both of these to work together (ie have Uconnect handle two AUX) I don't know. Kind of defeats the purpose of having hands free Bluetooth/Ipod Integration....doesn't it?

Also a tip is my phone has an option in BT settings for phone AND media to be played through BT. I turned off the media option. Don't know if this helps, but it can't hurt. I do not have an Iphone, so if you listen to music through Iphone via BT, this does you no good.
Sounds like your phone does an auto search and connect, while the ipod doesn't! This is a problem when you turn the car off and have to manually reset it each time.
If you turn the auto connect off on your phone, you might get the ipod to work everytime but you'll still need to connect your phone each time as well. It's a trade-off I suppose.
This is a stab in the dark as I don't have the problems you describe with my aftermarket navigation radio.(pioneer Avic-x90bt) I have an ipod aux plug directly ran to my glovebox and auto connect on my phone and it picks up both no probs.

Hello, I would lie to try to help here but I need to understand a couple things please.
1) you said everything works great untill you restart the car. Does this mean that you left the vehicle and came back later, started the car to leave?
2) Was the iPod the last item that you were listening to whemn you left the vehicle?
3) When was the Uconnect installed?
Thanks.

1) Start car, let Uconnect recognize Ipod, then turn Bluetooth on phone....then it works fine....then I turn off ignition...this is when I was referring to, when I get back in car. Then I have to make sure BT on phone is off until I restart car and let it recognize Ipod and then turn BT back on on my phone.
2) It doesn't matter what I'm listening to last, radio, Ipod, doesn't matter. If I start car with BT on on my phone, it will not recognize my Ipod.
3) Two weeks ago.
Another peculiar thing I found is that since it was added my XM radio "favorites" every XM station, so my "favorite" star icon is always on. Weird.
I'm content with the way I have it working. It's a little frustrating but oh well.
Here's what I have to do.
Make sure BT on phone is off. Turn on car. Stereo automatically goes to radio for some reason (regardless what last listened to was). Press "media" button. It automatically detects Ipod as soon as I press "media" button. It takes several seconds and it picks up my Ipod. Turn BT on phone on. Then I can listen to whatever I want to and make calls, etc, as designed.
Thanks for the input guys. Any ideas would be great, but like I said, I can live with the way it's working.
Any ideas on clearing my "favorites" problem would be awesome. I might start a separate thread about it.
I looked back thru but I didn't see what phone that you are using.. sorry if it's there and I didn't see it. Uconnect does work with a phone paired and an iPod hooked up at the same time.
Also Uconnect does start playback from the radio after an ign cycle.
The reason is not Uconnect but because that's the way the radio is designed.

Dirty...Thanks. I looked on my phone and found the autoconnect feature and it doesn't seem to matter. Worth a shot though.

I apologize, I didn't ask what SW is in your phone. Is it Android 2.2 by chance? If so there is a GB version for this phone that I am currently testing for HTC and I will let you know by tomorrow evening what my results are. I will also try to get an idea of a release date. Thanks
