I recently installed a backup camera and getting horrible screen noise/horizontal lines.

Whats interesting is when i connect the camera to a monitor with the engine running the picture improves a lot but when its connected to the AvicHU the quality is rather bad. I tried connecting another ground wire to the AVIC with no change.

Any ideas ?

you either need to find better cleaner grounds, use better quality rca cables for your video feeds or use filters on your video cables
