Default 2000 dakota cd player problems

hey all,
i have a slight problem with my truck due to changing my factory tape deck for a after market cd player. i baught the needed harness hooked it up and all the wires by following the diagram and wire colour code's, how-ever my illumination only works on the ground wire, when dimming my dash lights it don't work but dimms the kms and the bottum lights, the speedo and tack and other instroments get no lights what so ever, now if i hook the illumination to a positive wire red or the yellow battery wire the illumination works, any idea's or how i should wire this would be greatly apprecaited thanks.
Sincerely Zult

I normally dont use harnesses. When i go after market i normally only tap power and ground from the oem harness and run speaker wires to the doors or amps.

But in any case, sounds lime you got the wrong harness. Do you have a stock Infinity system?
