Default Can I put a newer stock stereo in 2005 Ram?

Hi I have a 2005 2500 Ram, with the RB4 Stereo and Uconnect... I've scoured on how to be able to somehow use my IPOD / Iphone. I see the Mopar IPOD kit, but this is $265 and very limited.

Can I use a newer stereo from another MOPAR vehicle and put it in this ones' place? I'd like to preserve the use of UConnect and have an AUX port and or bluetooth connection to my iphone as well....

Thanks!

I've been poking around for awhile looking to do something similar.

Crutchfield makes an integration kit for Chrysler vehicles, but I am not sure it works with the RB4 unit.

You might also check out this link :

Should you decide you want to replace your head unit.

Shoot me a PM and I will take it off your hands.

I didn't find one through Crutchfield, do you have a link? I guess my main question still is can I put in a newer stock unit into the place of the Rb4... Something like a my gig would be very nice to have

Thanks for the reply Pete, but the link wasnt the same application and I didn't see an integration kit for dodge, just saw one for chevy ford BMW and Honda / Toyota. Do you have a link?

Basically my question is can I put a newer system like a MY GIG in this truck and maintain Uconnect ability and steering wheel controls? Or is there an IPOD integration kit that exists under 250$?

Thanks!

No, MyGig is designed for CANBus system, yours is a PCI bus system (they won't interface without a custom translator box, which you need to be or know an electrical engineer to make work correctly).

Guys,

More than likely you'd be money ahead if you went to an aftermarket receiver right from the start. The adapters/translaters you need would end up running you as much or maybe more, if you didn't go with top of the line equipment and speakers.

Thanks for that enlightenment Hemi.... Is the RB4 the last PCI bus system? I now wonder if there is a slightly better factory equipped PCI bus unit that has an aux output....

I agree with you but don't like that you lose Uconnect integration and have to pay additional for the steering wheel control adapter...
Have you upgraded your stock unit? are you happy with the outcome? other contributors welcome...

After market would be less money, more functions and less work. The PAC-SWI steering wheel remotes suck IMO anyway. Just use the remote that comes with the after market head unit

Haha how does it suck to have the controls at your fingertips? You prefer swerving around the road looking for that dinky little remote? lol... I agree that aftermarket will have more features, i'm beginning to lean that direction... One issue is the fit of an aftermarket unit, do the double dins look forced in this truck? Do you have an aftermarket receiver? I like the rounded trim of the stock radio, to drop in a square unit seems like it would look like crap...

Anyone please feel free to post or link pics of your aftermarket receivers!
