Default Direct Replacement for Infinity Speakers ("premium")

99 Dodge Dakota, drivers door lower speaker is shot (blown out). Anyone know of any direct replacement without re-wiring? Sounds like crap right now and its making me very angry.

Thanks

Salvage yard is where I'd start. Either side oughtta fit. Problem with anything aftermarket is that Dodge put the woofers in the doors on the trucks.

I ran into the same problem with my intrepid...I called the dealer and the door woofers were $75 and change apiece. The only other option is to buy a new set of component speakers, but they will come with a tweeter.

First off those OEM Infinity's are anything but premium. No way in hell would I give Dodge $75 ea for those. You can put aftermarket speakers in there just use wire taps so you don't have to cut the speaker harness. On the 2004's and older Metra should have a harness for around $5-7 a pair. If you have the "Premium" stereo you also have the Infinty OEM amp which pushes a 2ohm load only. You can run 4ohm speakers in there but only get half the power from the amp(approx 40w rms). You can buy Infinity 60.7CS's which are 6 1/2 components but are 2 ohm speakers. You will however have to cut a 2 1/8" dia hole where you're existing OEM tweeters are located to make the aftermarket one's fit. Thats what I did on my 2005 Dakota. Smoked the right front mid a month after getting the truck. Replaced them with Phoenix Gold ZR6.5' comps. Cost me $100 to the door for those and a set of their 6.5" coaxs online. Not sure about the cars but the door panels on the trucks come off pretty easy. Just watch where you mount the crossovers in the door. And watch the depth of the speakers so they don't interfere with the windows. I think the maximum depth is about 2.75 ". You will also have to use speaker adapter rings to mount the aftermarket speakers. Or fabricate some using 1/4" plywood. Just don't waste your hard earned money on OEM speakers.
