Default UPDATE! Fodge sound system

i thought id starta second topic to fluff up the forum a bit </P>

for those who dont read the off topic forum, I just made a deal to buy my dads busted *** 2001 F-150 for wicked cheap so he can buy somthing that doesnt randomly not work when he needs it. its a little 2 wheel drive jobber with the heavy suspension package and the 4.6 V6 (i think its a 4.6). auto on the column, everything else is strip bone stock. roll up windows, the works. of course theres only one problem with it, its a FORD (found on road dead just this very night lol) so...i got a hold of a buddy of mine and hes hooking me up with a 5.2L mopar engine and a 5 speed mopar tranny! so i figure im going to turn the truck into a badass holy-crap-that-thing-is-fast! street ride. details on the mods will be kept up under the off topic section, but heres the stereo system that im planning on building for it <IMG src=smileys/smiley15.gif border="0"></P>

im starting with an Alpine deck (of course lol) and replacing all the 6x8 speakers with infinity kappas. im going to make fiberglass forms for the kick panels to house a pair of infinity kappa component midrange drivers, and modding the sail panels (just infront of the windows) for 1" infinity kappa tweeters. im driving the 6x8's with an alpine 55x4 amp, and the components with an 80x2 amp, which will be mounted behind the seat. also behind the seat will sit a pair of Alpine 1000 watt amps that will drive 4 JL audio 12's mounted into a fiberglass enclosure at the front of the truck bed, covered and protected by a full fiberglass tonneau cover, for which im in the middle of doing the math equations for </P>

im considering adding small 6x9 midranges behind the seat in boxes to help mediate the in cab bass levels, so its still a thick full sound without the subs blowing the cover off the bed. i dont know yet though. </P>

i will also be devising a clever way to switch between amplifiers for the subs. so i will be able to run 1 amp (2 subs), the other amp (the other 2 subs) or all 4 subs and both amps at once. that way I can run one amp (2 subs) at a higher volume instead of both amps (all 4 subs) at a low level. so i wont be fillingthe whole neighborhood with bass. until i want to anyway </P><edited><editID>beetlebz</editID><editDate>37924.120150463</editDate></edited>

Default UPDATE! Fodge sound system

well ill be honest with you, im not a huge fan of the Rams structurally. Ive heard alot of bad things about the frames being easy to bend, and the bodies dent really easy. OTOH with ALL things considered, id still buy a dodge hands down if i needed a truck. but i do have to say,my friend just bought a 2002 chevy silverado and its a damn fine toy. but at anyrate, it allows me to combine the best part about dodges with the tolerable part about fords, and gives me MILES of creativity in the process. besides im getting it really cheap. i cant turn down a 2001 for what im payin even if it IS a ford! i might replace the whole rear drive train too.</P>

I just cant wait to get the dodge logo airbrushed on the tailgate!</P>

LOL, GREAT Explaination! I have to admit, I agree they dent easily, although I wouldn't know how they crumble... LOL! Thank goodness never crunched my Ram. But my buddy's truck frequently finds a new tiny dent here and there.</P>

I'm really Dodge Die Hard all the way, no matter the bad whatsoever. LOL!</P>

But yes, miles of creativity is good... POST PICTURES!! LOL! </P>

Default UPDATE! Fodge sound system

UPDATE! w00t!</P>

I did some scavenging over the weekend, and ive changed the bass setup a little. (im buying parts for it as i come across them, so when i get the truck finished i can just slap them in<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"> ). I found 2 15" L7 solobarics and 4 10" L7 solobarics, all for really good prices! so im going to ****** them up this comming weekend when i have a day off, and put 2 15" L7's in the fiberglass, with800 watts running to each, and then 3 of the 4 10" L7s also in back, getting400 watts a piece (thanks to 3 2 channel PPI amps). the 4th 10" is going in a custom built enclosure behind the truck seat, inbetween 2 of the 3 sub amps (which i drew up the plans for this evening). I also got a lead on two sparco racing seats (used, but in mint shape) that will fit it. but i dont have the money to even think about wishing for seats yet.</P>

Ill keep yall posted!</P>
