Subs and Amp
Correct. My color code was a little different but all i did was remove the factory sub box and connected to channel 1 or 2. not sure which channel i used but either one will work. i didn't cut the wire or anything like that, i just used a midline splice connector to connect the wiring for the amp. Then from there i ran the wire under the factory sub box and up behind the seat. the two wires then went into channel one on the high level inputs on the amp. That was pretty much it.
I used inline splice connector to tap into the factory sub wiring. So the factory sub is still functioning with the new sub. Then ran one channel worth of wires to the high level inputs on my amp (Alpine mrp-m500 amp). The amp automatically turns on when the factory stereo turns on without the use of a remote wire because it sences signal from the factory system. Then just ran 8gauge power supply to the amp. Theres a perfect location to bring the power cable into the cab without drilling holes and using a gromlet. I came thru the fire wall at the same place the main wiring harness comes in. I'll post some pics when i get home from work.
By the way, thanks again for your tips. I followed them to run my power wire and get my setup installed.
Thanks!
Rob
I called Alpine and the MRP-M500 doesn't have auto-sensing turn-on from audio inputs, so I'm thinking you must have some type of additional sensing switch attached that serves that purpose. I was able to find a convenient +12V switched source to tap into for turn-on, so I went that route.
Thanks,
Rob

My bad, I couldn't remember model that I bought at the time I posted that. I remember looking at that MRP-M500 but i actually bought the MRX-M55. I apologize for the mistake...
I'll take some more pics this weekend to show how its wired.
P.S. I hope you didn't buy the other amp based on what I told you.....
