Default iPod Interface 82212160

Has anyone that has installed the UConnect iPod interface compared it to a regular USB adapter? From the pictures it looks like it's a simple USB A Female to Mini USB Male.

Like this one.

Might need one like this to fit into the connector.

Amazon Amazon

A whole lot cheaper than the $30-$40 I'm seeing for the official cable..

yes, it's the same as a mini - full size USB cable. h echrysler piece also comes with a 1" grommet that the cable is routed thru to keep it from slipping thru the hole or out of the glovebox.

Hmm, have you actually used a different cable? The one I bought on Ebay didn't work but I got a factory cable and it works..

Wonder if there's funky pinout or the one I got is bad or something.

Yes, I have used a different cable before with no issues. A USB connector has 4 connections (5V+, 5V-, data +, data -) and there is a standard that doesn't variate.
