Usual Question Different Slant
I know this question has been asked on several occasions in the past. But this has a slightly different perspective. I have read BobK's thread on upgrading from standard radio to sat/nav radio cd player, really good thread very well laid out with good pics, i know he has a Ram, but the principles will be the same for my Durango....Right??.
I can source the new radio bezel, and a secondhand or new OEM radio/cd/satnav here in the UK. it will have UK/European maps instead of US maps, and better still the radio will not have the US Frequency jumps on FM, which is a problem here in the UK.
Right.....The question is does anyone know if fitting a UK/EU spec OEM radio/cd/satnav to a US spec car is going to be a walk in the park or going to create a major headache. I assume all Chrysler/Dodge cars whether US or UK spec will have the same electrics, wiring and so on, i cant see Chrysler not standardising such things. Obviously there will be some differences, such as headlights tail lights etc, but the basic cars will be the same Won't They?
My Concern is the can-bus wiring being a US spec Car. Can anyone advise, thanks in anticipation

Well i think i have come up with a major snag, in relation to the new radio bezel, unless i am mistaken, The climate control panel is slightly bigger than the standard air con panel, just looking at the panel in the pictures and comparing to mine the standard air con control, unless someone can chip in and tell me otherwise.
I spent 2hours trolling thru Autotrader on the net, without exception every Durango that had an OEM radio/cd/sat nav had climate control none had standard air con, and i don't really want to start changing the heater control unit, so it looks like i will have to leave things as they are unfortunatly

I do a lot of custom work for guys all over the net. A lot of what I do is make custom dash pieces to fit a lot of aftermarket double DIN head units. If you get a chance, check out my Facebook pics and see if it is something that will benefit you. Ive shipped all over the world

Thanks for the reply,I have checked out your facebook pics, and yes this is something that may work well, i just have to be sure first that an OEM UK/EU spec radio/cd sat nav unit wiring will work with a US spec.
Do i need to send my bezel to you or do you have them ready to ship out?

well no particular reason. I just thought an oem REC system would be more compatible, and blend in. I personally like the infinity Adrenalin set up, i know there are better systems out there, but i have to work within a budget, and the OEM system looks like being the cheapest option.
I can get an second hand unit here in the UK for £400(approx$600) complete with antenna. It needs to be UK or European spec, one being for the maps and secondly the radio frequencies will not have the weird 3KC shifts, as do the US spec Head units.
Apart from that, i do not have any opinions, or preferences, if you have any suggestions on aftermarket Head units let me know. One other point is there is an overhead DVD player in the car
