Rear / sub audio out
Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction. I recently installed a Sony CDX-GT56UI head unit in my 2002 dodge quad cab sport. I hooked the unit using the existing infinity amp to power the left/right front door speakers and the three dash speakers. The unit also had left and right leads for the two rear door speakers which I didn't hooked up. I instead hooked up a pioneer GM510T 750 watt amp two the rca plugs on the rear of the unit and have one 300watt sub woofer connected to the right channel of the amp. the front speakers running off the infinity amp work fine and the rear amp powers up okay but there is no sound. Is there a setting on the radio I am missing? The head unit manual says the audio out can be switched SUB or REAR. Does this mean the unit can be switched from the rear output speaker connections to the rca connections or are they always on......Any help with this would be greatly appreciated....
If you have the amp set to mono for the one sub lots of times the sub has to be hooked up to the left channel. Not sure if that's the problem but its worth a try. And just to make sure the sub is hooked up correctly undo the two speaker wires at the amp that go to the sub and use a AA battery and touch the wires on either side of the battery. You should here a click sound, or thud from a sub. If not then check the wiring to the sub.
And the rcas should always be on. With the head unit being able to.switch from sub to rear probably means there is a built in crossover that when switched to sub will cancel all higher frequency sounds that do not need to go to a subwoofer.
