apm problems
Hello I got a Jenson 340 watt amp and I have it all hooked up right with an installation kit to a new kenwood cassete thats fine. The problem when I hook it to the stock speakers they have no sound they crackle just a tiny bit(I am getting new speakers just getting this done first) the amp powers up and light comes on but no sound whats up? on the back of the head unit there is 4 hookins for the RCA cables 2 on the amp, do I need to have those hooked in with the split extention that makes it have four? I was just trying it to one speaker at a time does this make a difference?
any help is good thanx

Your first issue is the size of the wiring your using, 18 gauge wiring and your lucky you get a crackle. Secon if youve got your stock speakers connected to a 350 Watt amp they are gonna blow like none other when you replace the wiring. The best thing to do is to get some 8 gauge wiring. Second, unless your using the amp for a future sub, get a smaller wattage amp. Too much power and they will go out. Good luck dude. Keep us posted.
Not sure what wires you mean to replace the 18 gauge ones with 8? I have 8 gauge wire hooking it to the battery... 18 from the speakers to the amp. I do plan on geting a sub (Christmas present hehehe) but would a 340 amp work for powering a 350 RMS watt sub peak power 700 AND two sony xplod 6x9s 260watt?
That should be fine for powering the sub and two 6 by 9s, the only thing is that your bass isnt gonna hit too hard. Your best bet is just connecting the amp to the sub and let the speakers b. Now if your not a rap fan, (wich is really all subs are good for) the setup you want wil be just fine, but if you want a good hit, connect your amp to the sub only. Good luck, sorry I confused you on the wiring, you 18 gauge might be a little small for your subs, or the speakers belw when you connected them to the amp
