I would like to know the maximum allowable depth for door speakers on a second generation Ram.
The pair I have are 2.68 inches/69 mm from the back of the mounting plate to the back of the magnet,
and 3.7 inches/94 mm from the front of the tweeter to the back of the magnet.

I can't answer your question partly since I don't even know what a 2nd gen ram is.
But you can put any size speaker in if your willing to do some work.
I put 10" speakers in the doors of my 70 DeVille. They did stand proud of the door skin a few inches but weren't in the way. A ring of plywood sliced and rolled for the stand off.
