Default Rattling, Horrible Rattling

I've got a Kenwood 9152-D amp powering two 10" MTX subs in the back of my 98 Dakota Club Cab. The subs are in a Thunderform enclosure under the rear seat (where the factory tool tray used to be). Inside the truck, the subs sound GREAT, but outside is another story all together. When I crank up the subs, the whole truck gives off a horrible distorting rattle, and sounds like complete crap. It sounds more like metal grinding than it does bass. Are Dakotas normally this bad with acoustics? I will admit, this is my first system, and I installed it myself, so I'm a complete newbie at this and that probably didn't help. I was thinking I'd just go buy a crapload of sound dampening, but will that be enough? Any other tips?

Stand outside of the truck and listen to you bass and see where the rattling is coming from the truck. Then get something like Dynomat and applie it to those areas, that should work. The only bad thing about that is that your gonna have to take off alot of paneling. Have fun.
