Default Aftermarket units?

I have a first gen Dakota. It had a am/fm tape deck when I bought it. I put in new speakers and I put in a am/fm,cd,tape deck from a newer model Chrysler. It has failed. Turns out this is "common" on these units. I fixed the one I have sort of. When I put it back in the tape deck no longer works. ???!

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket unit with radio,cd,tape?

What units did you put into your truck?

Man, time to go modern. Ditch the CD’s, cassettes, 8 tracks and put your music on one of todays multimedia storage devices. heck, I have thousands of songs on my phone. My head unit is a basic multimedia player (yes, it still has am and fm) Go to crutchfield.com and search around a bit and see what’s out there that fits. You’ll be glad you did.

If you are not familiar with MP3's school yourself. You can put tons of songs on a memory stick. You may want to look into Sirius XM(satellite radio) Way better programing than regular radio.

Yea yea yea ...I turned off my Startac in 03. I only keep it for emergencies since it will work without me having a contract to call 911.
I like old school. The radio and CD is still working. Maybe I'll find out how to fix the tape deck?

If you can find one, Sanyo made a Single Din CD/Cassette head unit years ago. I know ebay has some available. The only other option you have is to find a Cassette deck with an add-on CD changer. Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks.
eBay have something for a Kia Sedona that comes up with the search term "Sanyo made a Single Din CD/Cassette head unit"
They look like the right size do you know if they fit? I didn't see any size descriptions.

What is the year of your Dakota. Where I work we sell kits and harnesses to change out head units.

You really need to look into MP3's, You will never look back to fast forwarding/rewinding or CD's skipping when you hit a pot hole. My current deck plays CD's but the MP3's get most of the use. Scroll threw tons of songs, Pick the one you want and bam it plays. The old school thing you can put on your wall. Is it live or is it Memorex?

This is a classic also.

I used to use TDK.

There is a reason that technology put the tape manufactures out of business.
