Default adding speakers

Ok, quick question before I mess somthing up, can you hook multiple speakers onto the main speaker wire from the head unit? splice them into it or how would you go about doing that? does the main wire have to be converted from a 18 gauge wire to a larger size to power them.
Reason for doig is just becaulse I want to have lots of cool looking speakers in the trunk and backseat.
thanks Jason

Not to go into a big thing of why not to do that, I am going to say no. You will probably end up blowing your head unit. I suggest going to a professional shop and have them set you up with a system. Explain to them whatyou exactly want and then they will suggest the best route to go.
