Alternator whine / Ground Loop
I did search and found some information, but wanted a fresh opinion. I've got an 06 Ram QC 1500, I just finished installing 2 amps, speakers, and a sub, I'm getting the whining that increases in pitch with the engine rpms. Both my amps are grounded in the same spot, I sanded down to bare metal, drilled a hole and ran a screw into the floor under the pas. seat. The ground wires are maybe about a foot and a half long. The only factory wiring I'm using is the ground and constant (yellow) in the wiring harness (Crutchfield sent me 3 harnesses, one only has a black and yellow).
I've read that people recommend grounding the alternator (just off the mounting bolt?) and also running another wire from the batt neg to the engine. I'd hate to have to rip out my console/seat again to get at the amp grounds, but I guess I may have to. Any ideas or similar issues??
Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Try running a different ground for your head unit.

DOH!! Seems I spoke too soon. I guess being in my garage with the doors open I couldnt hear it. It still makes the sound, but it isnt so loud now. And also it doesnt pulse now like it used to, which is good. Any ideas what to try next?

The noise is coming from the door speakers, I couldnt hear it from the sub. Before I had to have the stereo at like 8 to drown the noise out, not it's at about 3-4 and I cant hear it. [sm=confused06.gif]
