I actually work at Best Buy, we have those packages just about every week. Last week was the alpine package. We have those subs set up in a ported box that looks like this..
and they sound pretty good, if your on a budget then go with P.A, but if you wait till next week or the week after the next we might have Alpine Packages, and Infinity Packages, we have a diffrent package every week, and somtimes buy one sub and get one free.

Also i would add about another 100 on to that price they show for wiring unless you got your own, and about another 100 for installation, unless your doing it yourself.

If you had bestbuy do everything your looking at about ~$550.00

If you ask the guy at best buy to demo them he should as long as there crap is working. we useally keep ours off unless we feel that the customer is actually somone that might buy somthing. Instead of punk *** kids that come in there and shake the store and scream and dance in our boom room, and then they get all pissed off when i walk in there and turn it all off and say its broken.

Sorry got off topic a bit...

anyways. Overall i like them, unless your on a budget i would wait till we have the alpine/RF/or Infinity packages... but dont get me wrong they will still give you the car rattling experiance... Also they look pretty cool if you invert them or put them in that box i have above. They where made to be inverted kinda like the P1s and P2s and so on... the magnets are coverd up and coated to look slick.

ok. so P.A is decent. im only 16 so i am on a budget but i already got a amp wire and all cuz im upgrading my system. but about the alpine type Rs best buy has. i looked at them and peak and rms wattage is lower than PA so what makes them better.....just the quality? that part confuses me. and also inverting....is it just for looks or does it make a difference in bass?

Yes, Alpine quality is better than power acoustik. You could run the alpine more power than they are rated for. People that really know what they are doing are running 1000rms to those things and the subs are taking it. Power Acoustik over rates their products by a bit, but I will say I have installed several of their amps and have had zero problems with any of them, so I have nothing bad to say. Inverting is mainly for looks.

ya like habeba said, P.A over rates their products. Type R's are the most expensive subs we have at best buy. They are also the subs that can handle the most power. We have a alpine mono amp that pushes about 600rms at 4 ohms and 800rms at 2ohms, witch is perfect for the Type Rs, each type R takes an amp alone, if you go through best buy, our installer has 2x Type R 12"s and 2x Mono Alpine Amps, 2x 1farad Digital Caps, and performance RF wiring, in a little sonoma... the bass hits so hard and there so much compression it sucks the roof in and pops it out, you can put change on his roof and watch it fly off the truck. They hit HARD and sound great, but your also looking at the most expensive ****. about 300 for each sub, and 310 for each amp, and about 100 for the caps, and about 170 in wiring ect... your looking at little over 2k

Inverted is mostly for looks yes, but you actually get better bass, one of our other car-fi dudes, has 2x Inverted 12" Type E with cap and mono amp, and his readings are alot higher then normal mounted subs, he gets about 2 more decibals(sp?) inverted then normal.

but ya.. there is so many ways to set up a system and tweak with it, i love it, thats why i love dealing with this stuff. Setting up this **** is a art. Its beautiful lol.
