Default Hardwire a Radar Detecter

I have an 06 R/T and I`m looking to hardwire my radar detecter . I do not like the wire hanging down and across the dash besel. My car has a sunroof in it and the little map light. Is there a wire I can tap into up in the little light console ? Help Me Please.

All the radar runs off of is a 12v power and a ground. Just test some wires for a 12v remote wire, one thats turns on when you start the car. If you get a constant the radar will stay on all the time unless you turn it off.

Just check some wires, turn off the car then turn it on it should show 0v then a 12v constant while the car is on, if it goes down then find another wire, if its on when your ignition is off then thats a constant.

You can buy hardwire kits from most best buys. Also what kind of radar is it? If its a valantine or escort i know they use a special hardwire cable, they use somthing that looks like a telephone port. If its a cobra or somthing they use the standard plugs.

I pulled the cig lighter attachment apart and yank the wires off, Ran it down through my dash and hooked it up to the power and ground from the back of my radio..I did that becuz i dont have a light that comes from the rearveiw..It works good..took me abit to get it done but once done it looked great..

Thanx guys , I`m gonna head to Best Buy and see what they have. It`s a Cobra so maybe I`ll get lucky. Kinda nervous about pullin things down from the roof , lol. Try it next week since I have to work the next 4 days - yuk.

Thanx again
