Default Overhead Console

Hey Guys,
Got two questions for ya. I have a 1998 Ram 1500 club cab Laramie SLT with a 5.9 V* 360. First, For a while I have been researching putting either a trip computer or a compass/temp computer in my overhead. I looked tonight, and there is no visible wiring other than the three pin socket for the map lights(unless its tucked away from the opening). While I assume Id have to run a switched 12v wire and a thermostat for the compass/temp, what all is required for the trip computer? I believe I read about someone splicing it into the back of their OBDII socket. Id rather use a factory harness if possible.
Second, The collision repair guys put a bumper with OEM fog lights on my truck, and I dont have a fog light switch. They wired it into the running lights. I also do not have a slot on my dash for the switch. Since the layout is different on the dash of several 3rd gen's, just to give an idea, the top right triangular space on my dash is the power outlet with the flip down cover. Under that is the airbag switch. I have seen several different locations for fog light switches....(on the left of the dash at the headlight switch, and in the same panel as the airbags.)Can anyone else with a 1998 Ram tell me where the switch is. Note: when I had my dash apart last, I saw a wiring harness connector split away from my power outlet that was square and had 8 or so pins(slightly larger than the one in the power outlet) that was not connected to anything. Is this it? Any advice on running any of this equiptment? Thanks guys, yall have been great help.

Thanks,

Bryan Omohundro

Default RE: Overhead Console

As for the fog-light switch...it is directly to the left of the air-bag switch, I will include a pic at the bottom of the post. Now for the overhead console.... I have seen several ppl ask about this, but never seen anyone do it...or atleast come back and tell us if they did......I cant really help ya much....
