Default Russian Mafia involved in Magna bid for Chrysler?

There is a front page article in Friday's
Wall St Journal page A1 and A8
about a 39 year old Russian named Oleg Deripaska
who is about to make a $1.54 Billion investment
in Magna Corp, controlled by Canadian Frank Stronach,
who is the main bidder for Chrysler
and seems favored by the UAW.

The FBI has revoked a US Visa to Mr Deripaska for alleged organized crime ties, although he is a friend of Russian president Putin.

Deripaska made his money by gaining control of aluminum smelters formerly
owned by the USSR.

An article about the same deal,
but less extensive
and less raising the questions of links to crime
is this story in Detroit News:

the soap opera continues
