No, Daimler ran Chrysler into the ground. These guys are trying to salvage it.

I find it funny that they would wanna get rid of Jeep since its what helped bail their butts out back in the 80's from going belly up. I do like the Jeep lines, I'll be getting a jeep in the furture . My Great grandpa worked there when it was ****** overland my grandpa for Kaiser, AMC my dad AMC , CHrysler and Daimler . so maybe im a little baised on the jeep line LMAO

The 90's was a great decade for Chrysler. With the redesign of the Ram; the intro of the Concorde/Intrepid cab-forward design, the Neon, and the re-design of the Dakota in '97. Things were great back then. I loved all of those (not that I dont like the LX) designs. But eversince the "Merger" which turned into a buy-out with Daimler; everything's gone down hill.
I want those good 'ol days back![/align]

Jeep has been a bastard child of car companies since WWII. No one has been able to make a sustained profit off of them and the brand ends up getting traded like a dot com stock on the stock market.....too bad.

The commander and compass need to get the axe thats for sure. The patriot would do better as a dodge also, I think. Now that the whole SUV craze has more or less crashed its going to go back to 4x4s for the enthusiast and Jeep has always been THE major player. Hummers and toyota FJs are the only real competitors they have since we for some reason wont allow land rover defenders here...

Cerberus has always told the Wall Street analysts
that Jeep was the key to their 'downside risk'
in the Chrysler deal.
If the deal to revive all of Chrysler went sour,
Cerberus said they believed they could sell off the Jeep division alone
for something like 5 to 7 billion dollars
...which means the most they thought they could lose
out of the 9 billion $ deal
was 30% or so of what they invested.
The above article is a REALLY bad warning of things to come
if you are presently a Chrysler employee
not in a Jeep related factory.

Unfortunately, I believe they'll keep selling off peices to make some return or stop red ink. Frankly, even if the company was generating profits it would be on the block to the highest bidder. Cerberus is a private equity firm, they'll make a dime wherever they can.
Next Hundred Years... yea, right.
