Analyst: Chrysler has the most potential - for Canada
November 20th, 2008 by DaveAdmin
CanadaThe Windsor Star wrote about an American manufacturing consultant’s plan for a Canadian rescue package for Chrysler. Sandy Munro, an analyst of Troy, Michigan, wrote that Canada should bail out Chrysler alone, on the condition that the company moves its corporate headquarters to Windsor, Ontario, using a building Chrysler already owns. The engineering and technical staff would remain in the Chrysler Technical Center.
Munro noted that Canada could provide the entire $7 billion requested in loan guarantees by Chrysler, and pointed out that Chrysler was the only carmaker with a “full lineup of electric vehicles ready for production.” In return, Canada would receive strong benefits in taxes and ancillary benefits.
One-third of Chrysler’s production capacity is already in Ontario. Munro consults for numerous clients including Ford and Honda.
