Default 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 information leaked in dealer brochure

It looks to be official. The 2011 Challenger high end model will be the "SRT 392", packing a 392 cubic inch (6.4L) Hemi with MDS, offering 475 stated (im guessing understated) horsepower and 460tq.

Curious what the price bump will be. Base Mustang GT is $30,000, SRT-8 is already $13,000 more. Just from a performance stand point, not looks, history, or "hating Ford", it is 43% higher. And $13,000 goes a long way towards maintenence and insurance, even if it happens to be higher.

Just sayin'...

Stopped by Parkway on Hall Road in Clinton Township and the sales guy had not heard anything yet about the Challenger. He said the owner went to the Dealer Show but had not said anything.

I also stopped there because they have a SMS Challenger, Steve Saleen's new company.

Now I've always been the kind of guy that thinks Saleen, Roush, etc. are just a body kit and add a blower company. They are. But I gotta say, it is the nicest Challenger I've ever seen. Too many mods. to list, front to back, inside and out, many changes that are all functional.

He has a hood with butterfly openings that open and close and is fully functional. Very cool. Tail lights and back up lights are LED, nice. Functional splitters, spoiler, diffusers, all well designed.

The leather and suede seats are very nice and comfortable, nicer than the SRT.

But, "only" 500 hp with a supercharger, the "X" version has 700 hp, but also costs $100,000.

Can't wait to see the new SRT-392 now. I wonder if any of the internals are now forged. It would make building even more power quite reliable.

Yeah, I'd have to say that I would go for a GT over a SRT-8 if money was an issue...

only if money was an issue.
