Their putting the newly tweaked 5.7L Hemi in the Ram, right?

i know heyll ptu a hem in it but what are they doing to the hemi?

 

You know, Dodge is increasing the horse power and torque in the 5.7L Hemi. Something along the line of 350 hp and 375 lb of torque. You didn't know that?

 

No ah ah! They are putting on the mds system and might get 5 more horse. Thats it.

 

chrysler/dodge dude - You're right, the new Ram has 350 hp and 375 lb of torque. Also gets the MDS to help save gas and money.



Never though I'd hear that comment in a Ram thread. That gets to you way too much Todd, lol.

 

The current hemi is 345 hp. And according to the press release thats noted in this section the 06 is also 345. So the only tweaking is mds.

 

But the torque has been increased to remain top of the class in torque to keep ahead of Nissan's 5.6 engine. Been seeing torque advertised at 390 lbs now.

 

That might be the Magnum and 300C Hemi you speek of. Same engine, just tuned differently.

 

Pretty sure this new torque rating is applied mainly to trucks to stay ahead against Nissan's Titan 5.6.

 

I love the look of the new Ram, it definitely sealed my decision to get a Ram when I get back from MSG in 2009, as long as the Cummins is still being used.
