This isn't a problem exclusive to Chrysler, it's pervasive, more or less throughout the world.
In Russia everybody is drunk all of the time just cope with the society they live in.

Every company has a policy concerning Alcohol and drugs.
Depending on the Managers and their attitude toward the offending employee, the consequences of violating the rules can vary considerably.

Larger companies and unions offer an Employee Assistance Program for first offenders.
Most drunks drink to avoid or forget about other perceived problems in their life and need help to straighten out their lives.
Second offenders are terminated.

Drinking on the job...
I never drank on the job. I didn't need to, I was still drunk from the night before.
I'd usually sober up around 3:00pm.
I was a functional alcoholic, doing my job more efficiently than my co-workers.

Before I quit drinking, on my days off I started drinking in the morning and would drink throughout the day and night.
I was told I was just a Hard Drinker.

I learned through help that I was a common Habitual Drunk.

"Mind your own business, I'm not hurting anybody."
Thant's what all drunks say.

On average, in published studies, it's been shown that a person drives drunk 200 times before they get a DUI.
The bottom line is that people will do what they want, even when they are aware of the consequences until a boss, the family or the Law intervenes.

I'm not against drinking, as most people know their limit and are responsible drinkers.
I started drinking because it was a way to join in and it was fun.
Most of my friends quit me because I wasn't a social drinker.
