Question of the Week: Would you buy the Dart or deeply discounted Avenger right now?

The Dodge Dart is hitting record sales numbers but so is the Dodge Avenger due to a combination of Dart foot traffic and big discounts. Which of these Dodge sedans would you buy right now? Tell us why below!

The Dart strictly due to the styling. The avenger is too blocky for my taste.

Dart. The interior is head and shoulders above the Avenger.

Dart, and we already have bought one for the Wifey. It has more bells and whistles than my 13 Durango R/T!

Both could be nice cars, I think the Avenger needs more attention overall from Dodge.

Everything I've heard and experienced about the avenger reinforces the "japanese ecoboxes are better than american econoboxes" stereotype. My mom had one for a week while her car was getting deer headbutt damage repaired. I wasn't impressed. The dart on the other hand, I have less experience with, but at least the specs and the ones I've seen at auto shows were appealing cars.

No I am a large person and would not fit which is why I drive a Ram 1500

Don't like the way the dart looks, my sister has a 2011 avenger, I love that so I'd say avenger.

I'd buy the Dart for sure, many engine choices to choose from and lots of configurations

scatpack_69 06-15-2013 04:22 PM

IF they announced an AWD, 6 speed manual, ~300hp Dart (R/T, SRT, I don't care if it's called Blossom), I'll buy one in a hearbeat.

I'd buy the Dart :)

Ive had the pleasure of driving the Avenger and Dart back to back at Chrysler's Chelsea Providing Grounds and in term of driving quality, MPGs and interior gadgets - the Dart is superior...which is why i would go for the Dart.

I can't fit in a Avenger, 6 ft 4 around 240 lbs and the Dart is nicer car with more interior room.

I don't like any dodge FWD car and the Dart for being imported, I dispise all the more because this nothing American abought it.

To be fair, I have the same thoughts for Ford and GM as well.

The Dart was not on the market when I bought my Elantra ET, But I admit I would have considerd the Dart as a option to taking the bus..

BadStratRT 06-17-2013 06:32 PM

You drive a Hyundai but you dislike the Dart for not being American enough?

scatpack_69 06-17-2013 09:52 PM

Canada isn't very American either...

Not trying to jump on you, but your argument holds little if any water. It makes no sense. There really isn't any "American" cars, kind of like there aren't really any "Japanese" cars; hell Ram trucks are made in Mexico, while Toyota Tundras are made in America.

The Dart or the Avenger? The V6 Avenger. It would be a total knockout if the Avenger was RWD with the 8 speed. Maybe that is why I own a 2012 Charger 3.6 and 8 speed. I like the body style of the Dart and the interior is ok but I do not like the drivetrain in the Dart. Maybe the 2.4 will be more to my liking but it is only rated at 30MPG and my Charger is rated at 31.
