BRINGING back the OMNI?
I had a 1985 Shelby Charger that is nothing more than a Omni vehicle. If I remember, there were two types of Omnis. I cannot remember the body type as they call it back then, but I will use the coupe and sedan hatchbacks as the body types. The sedan looks alot like some of the older style jettas. Those FWD's of the 80's were able to compete with alot of the RWD cars out on the road back then. I remember I was able to waste alot of the jimmy carter days camaros and transam with those weak stock 5.0l engines. The mustang 5.0's was a little more difficult but can run neck to neck at the lights. These cars do not have much on top end. I wouldn't want to try to check top ends as these bodies do not have the aerodynamics to handle high speeds. The fastest I ever pushed my little charger was 129 mph. I can start feeling the front end floating at that speed and with FWD, it's scary. The king of sport cars in the mid to late 80's is the buick grand national. No stock mid 80's vehicle can beat this guy in the quarter. The dark vader of cars!
I would like to see the Omni type cars make a come back. Problaby today, the Omni line will be the same low budget cars just like they did in the 80's.

The Omni started off as a "Rabbit" like Clone. It was a 4 door hatchback (5 door) the Omni you are probably thinking of is the "Omni 024" Not sure what the "024" stood for, but it was the coupe version, that also sold under the Charger name; and yes I liked the Charger name on that car, and on the current Charger.... If dodge is bringing back the Omni my guess would be as a subcompact, something below the Caliber...
Omni, hey? Well my first post was about a new omni... https://dodgeforum.com/m_190941/tm.htm
