Default 30 Day Return on New Vehicles

Wow, just read the program rules.... that is one complicated program - glad it's optional for dealers to participate, because I don't think I will.

FYI.. If you do buy a Dodge and return it in 30 days you must:

bring it back in NEW condition. (obviously)
No MOPAR or aftermarket accessorries will be credited back.
Pay a "restocking fee" of 5% of MSRP PLUS $.50/mile driven.

Let's say 5 percent of msrp price of 20k and within 30 days time, you drive 1500 miles. That amounts to a 1000 bucks plus 750 bucks. That's $1750. I wonder if they will refund the TTL? If not, you can tack on alot on top of the $1750. Still alot of money to lose. Will have to decide whether or not to want it within a week.

Easiest way to test drive these cars and not get penalized with these restocking fees and penalies, is just go out and rent one for a day or a week?? No hassle. Want to buy a Calibur and not sure about its driving performance? Just rent one for a week. Much cheaper than returning it back to dealer and lose out on alot of money.

Ya, I think its going to hook a lot of people, but I dont really think its a great program.

But as far as TTL, you have 30 days (in most states) to pay for that. So it would be wise to not run to the courthouse until you are sure your going to keep it.

But lets not forget, we all got along before this program came out 5 days ago. So nobody should be afraid of a test drive. I think many dealers allow an overnight test drive too.

But don't confuse an overnight test-drive with a purchase.. saw another thread on here today that looks like the buyer and the dealer were not quite on the same page when the buyer took the car home without any financing worked out. (sounds mostly like the salesman's fault)

The customer does not get the Tax, Title or License fees back either. The dealer has the option to keep the car or give it back to DCX to go to auction. The car also has to be titled or have title and license registration paperwork in the customers name. The customer cannot have traded a vehicle in and they also must finance through Chyrsler Financial.

The 30 day return policy is law in Florida. So I am not excited about it.
