what about using cat
there have been rumors like this running around for a long time. Only problem with this is Cat will not make an engine small enough to fit under the hood of the ram. It is not economicaly feesable for them to have a one-of market. The ISB in the Ram is the same engine used in the AG market, found under the hoods of Ford 6/750's, FL60's, mineing, and generator applications.
Ford in no way owns Cummins, Cummins has, and into the forseeable future, is the only Diesel Engine manufacturer that is not owned by someone else.

can somebody please explain?
Yeah, if Ford owned Cummins wouldn't they use Cummins over Navistar? When I had heard that Toyota and Nissan were working on developing diesel engines for their future HD Trucks, I was really concerned that it would be Cummins. The rumours were that they're working with a US HD Diesel manufacturer, but that said mfg has remained anonymous. I'd sure hate to see Cat or Deere or someone other US Mfg crawl in bed with one of the Japanese Transplants. Caterpillar will be sponsoring a Toyota Camry in Nascar next season, so you never know......
