According to Eric Ridenour, the Jeep Gladiator was axed because it required its own unique platform. A production Jeep truck, if approved, would have to be based on an existing body-on-frame architecture, which brings us to the Wrangler pickup prototype we spotted in Detroit, as it was being transported between two off-site facilities for final assembly work. A Wrangler pickup has been rumored for quite some time, with the name Scrambler mentioned.
Jeep has taken the cab of a Jeep Wrangler and raised its roof with thin safari-inspired window slits, giving this truck a uniquely vintage greenhouse shape. A new hood incorporates a grab handle, elongated blisters and a mesh grille most likely designed to allow heat to escape the engine bay. Makes sense, since there is one 5.7-liter HEMI V8 stuffed inside. New front fenders frame a traditional Wrangler grille, below which rests a winch for serious off-roading duty. The Rhino-lined truck bed design is very old-school, so the Wrangler tail-lights plunked at the corners look right at home. A rear winch set-up further solidifies this truck's trail-cred.

RE: Jeep Scrambler
I do believe that the Scrambler is going to be one bad-*** truck!
My friend just recently bought a Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited- what a wicked offroadster! The only thing that it's missing is alil' bit of get up and go. Dropping Hemis into the Wranglers should fix that minor problem.

RE: Jeep Scrambler
that vechile is still based on the 97-06 wranglers, and the concept of it has been out for a number of years. AEV also has had their HEMI conversion for TJs out for awhile. The "JK" version of the Scrambler/Brute is not out yet. So all this article is saying is what the Jeep guys have known for years, that there is a coversion kit, sold by an aftermarket company to turn your TJ into a "scrambler"
