The fact that they question the value really makes me question their credentials over at autoblog. What knowledgeable car people have never seen a Barret-Jackson auction? What knowledgeable car people wouldn't know that the provenance of being owned by a president, especially a significant one, instantly adds a ton of value?

The key is to have it appraised by someone who specializes in that sort of thing. A nice 50 merc could be worth 50 grand for example, but if it was James Dean's 50 merc, it could be in the millions. Kennedy's car(not the blood stained one, I think it was destroyed), would probably be worth millions today, ofcourse it would be considerably less if he wasn't shot, but it would still be worth a ****load of money. The fact is, when a car has a famous name connected to it's history, KBB is worthless.

Edit: The Lincoln that Kennedy was shot in(dubbed the X-100), was rebodied by ford, retrofitted with armor, a non removable roof, and other saftey features by Hess & Eisenhardt. It was used by the following 4 presidents and retired in 77, it was donated to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearorn, Michigan.

Something like things would only be worth that much to me if it was Christina Aguilera's and it hadn't been cleaned.

But did anyone read the article? It called the 300 a 'gas swiller' at 23 mpg. Thats crap. Owners reviews are reporting mpg in the high 20s from hemi powered 300's, chargers, and magnums. If Barack had any integrity at all, he'd have stood by his choice and went public with the fact that its entirely realistic to enjoy a big inch V-8 with real performance and decent mpg, without jumping on the hybrid bandwagon. But then, his appeal is to greenies, socialists, Hollywierd wack jobs, and every other class of idiot out there.
