RE: Caliber SRT-4: Confirmed 300 HP w/ pics
Yeah, 350hp SRT-4's don't do that well, I saw a tuner shoot out a while back, was in motortrend I think, I was very much un-impressed with the SRT-4 tuner, it was something like 500hp but it's 1/4 mile time was like high 12's which for that power weight ratio is horible.

http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/caliber-srt4.html
Front wheel drive/manual transmission only. It wont be AWD according to Allpar.com
Another thing that surprises me is where it makes all of its power:
Power (SAE net, estimated) 300 bhp (223 kW) @ 6000 rpm (125 bhp/liter)
Torque (SAE net, estimated) 260 lb.-ft. (352 N•m) @ 2000-6000 rpm
The Neon SRT had a much better powerband than making its net worth at 500rpms before redline. And unlike most all dodge vehicles its odd that its torque is lower than its HP, which may hurt it. It weighs a bit more too, weighing in at 3189lbs.....hmmm Im sure itll be fast but I think the original SRT will be faster IMO.
And two cats instead of one? Ouch.....one was bad enough on my SRT.
Though weight distribution isnt all that bad: Weight Distribution, F/R 58/42 Almost a 50/50 shot.
They got smart and put some 255s on this SRT instead of our sad 205s. And 19s instead of 17s....sweet!
I do like it, but I think some things are kind of lacking.....
*edit* and it does say it has ESP

RE: Caliber SRT-4: Confirmed 300 HP w/ pics
if i were to trade and pay a lil more for a caliber srt4, it would have to be AWD, and electric blue.
I understand the Dodge Caliber SRT4 ‘AWD’ is in favor here! Unfortunately, at this time the production date is TBD, and we have not received specifications yet on this vehicle.
Therefore … I can suggest signing up on www.dodge.com to receive future updates.
At the same time, I’ll keep you posted!
MidnightBlueNeon … lol … It’s nice to chat with you again! Just wanted to say, I like the pics! [sm=smiley20.gif]
Thanks guys ...

It seems like this thing should have a better 0-60 time with that much more power. I would love to be able to take it out and whoop up on an STI with it, but it looks like it's gonna be a FWD only and only have 260 lbs of torque, so that probably won't happen.

I heard that it doesnt have a LSD that the traction is controlled by the ABS, course I could be wrong, I highly doubt that this will be able to keep up with a EVO or STI, maybe in hp only. I am staying with my 04 SRT-4, if the caliber does have 300 hp why is it slower then the first SRT-4's, you see the weight is going to be the biggest thing that it will have to over come some how, to me they are alright, but I like my SRT better, better performance and handeling. Possible there will be stage kits made but thats still up in the air, and who knows a s2 SRT Neon vs a s2 SRTCaliber, Im thinking that the s2 Neon will dominate it. Thats just my thoughts
