Colorado Members! Mopar at Thunder Mountain
Its time again! A week from Sunday. The annual all-Mopar show at Bandimere Speedway in the Denver area, May 4th. Doors open at 8:30 for spectators. I think the racers gate opens an hour or two before that.
If your'e within reasonable driving distance of Morrison, Colorado, this is simply an outstanding Mopar show. The best Mopar event in the area I think. There are four racing classes: Viper/Prowler shootout, DOT Street Tire, Pro Mopar, and the Front Wheel Drive Challenge. The amount of cars that show up in the staging lanes to race is mind boggling. You'll see everything from six-banger Darts to supercharged big-block Hemi's. There is no shortage of tire smoke!!!!!!
Also, there is show car judging for all the old body styles (E, B, A, ect) along with "Modern Mopar" for us new car owners. Usually about half or more of the show cars also get in the lanes to race. Mopar fans are not shy about running their cars!
Also, there is usually a few cars that just run for exhibition. Several years back one of the "Hemi Under Glass" cars showed up for some wheel standing fun. Last year there was two jet cars doing exhibition runs. Don't know what's going to be there this year, but it will be fun.
Directions: Highway C470 at the Morrison exit west of the Denver metro area. Follow the signs. They're calling for good weatheron the forecast with 54 degrees with a chance of T-storms in the town of Morrison. The speedway is usually a bit warmer than Morrison. Probably up around sixty with the slight possibility of a shower. 'Bout like normal for the Mopar show![/align]
