Default sheet metal

I have a 74 Challenger and I need to purchace a whole lot of sheet metal. There are a lot of vendors out there and prices vary quite a bit. I have seen the full quarter panels range in price from$539 to $670. My question is how many manufacturers out there are producing these parts, and do I need to stick with Goodmark or is Raybuck ok. Raybuck's website says that they sell Goodmark parts, but they are selling cheaper than what goodmark is charging.

There don't seem to be too many companies actually manufacturing the parts, but there are a ton of places that sell them, and none of them charge the same amount for the same parts. While it seems that most places get their stuff from goodmark, they are sometimes cheaper but sometimes more expensive than goodmark themselves.Having spent the better part of the past year replacing my car's sheet metal, theonly thing I can tell you is that shopping around is definately a good thing. I still have yet to find any one parts supplier who sells everything at the cheapest price. I've never dealt with raybuck personally so maybe someone else can help there, but i was quite pleased with goodmark's parts and the service was pretty solid too.

Don't forget shipping costs!! Many times I've seen people buy stuff off E-bay and have it cost way more because of the insane shipping and handeling charges. When you talk to the sales person get the price to your door, not the price out of their door.

Try Sherman & Associates, I just got fenders for my challenger and they were great. They have all kinds of sheet metalfor all the Dodge Muscle Cars. www.shermanparts.com I have purchased about 7 different orders with them and have been happy each time.

I ordered quarters from Raybuck who sells Goodmark metal and got them in less than a week. Great parts and service. Fenders are back ordered until March sometime with just about everyone, but I got lucky with Auto Body Specialists and got the first pair they ever sold for my 74 Challenger! Goodmark metal also. Great parts and service also. Now I have to figure out how to use this darn tig welder.I just bought.I have beenweldingfrom thewindshield openingfoward all week and hope to move on to the doors next week. Evevtually I will get as far back as the quarters.

I was wrong about Auto body specialists. I am sorry to reportthey do not stand behind the products that they sell. I recieved a set of trunk floor extensions, non Goodmark partsthat were not even close to fitting. I spoke to the owner Roger and he pretty much told me that I was stuck with the parts. He said I just need to bend the edge a little bit. He also said he sells hundreds of these a year and I was the only one to ever complain. If there is one phrase that just pisses me off to no end it is "you are the only one that this has happened to". I ended up having to cut off two inches of the panel and then tig weld the edge back on. I told this Roger that I have been doing this type of work longer than most of my employees have been alive. He still insisted his part was correct and I was doing something wrong. [>:]

Another possibility for good sheetmetal panels at reasonable prices is Sherman & Associates out of lower Michigan. I know my neighbor/bodyman uses a lot of their replacement panels, has always had great luck with their quality, and their prices are very competitive for what you get. Whatever you decide, make sure you go exclusively with the Mopar Authentic Restoration panels from Goodmark as the other quarter skins really suck when it comes to quality control levels. (I bought both sides to do my car and let's just say the lines weren't crisp and the stamping for the flip-top fuel cap was no where near where it should have been.)
